We also have the roles of Academy Lead and Product Research Lead. These focus on different aspects/initiatives of the org than typical project teams.
Although the roles are split, you will find your responsibilities cross-over. Thus, be sure to set expectations on each others responsibilities so you can keep each other in check throughout the semester. While the PM and TL do have specific, outlined responsibilities, consider the lines a bit blurred.
If one of you has overwhelming time commitments for the week or is unable to do a few 1:1s, work out that distribution of tasks among yourselves to get it done! The end goal should always be finishing the project successfully.
